About Bears Grease Pot Lids

Essentially Bears Grease Pot Lids are an early form of cosmetic hair preparations. Many thousands of Bears were slaughtered during the Victorian period and the fat was rendered into a perfumed paste and marketed as a Hair Tonic. Imparting thick Hair growth along with invigorating qualities and preventing hair loss.

Bears Grease was aimed at the male population while women used the equivalent known as Circassian Cream. Basically inferring that by using the product they will be  also able to enjoy the same qualities many of the Russian Georgian or Circassian women displayed near the Caucasus Mountains.

The Hair products were not just limited or based on a manufactured Bear Fat product but other animals were also similarly used and slaughtered. Cows, Reindeer and even Lions were advertised as being used in Hair preparations. Lion Pomade Pot Lids are particularly rare. The American Company of Jules Hauel in Philadelphia is known to have manufactured such Hair Products.

Testimonial

Privilege to write the first testimonial. We consigned several pot lids to be sold and found the process easy and the price achieved exceeded our expectations. We were originally offered considerably less than the final price we ended up getting and the commission rate was very reasonable. We recommend contacting John and associates for an appraisal.  J & I Wood
